Jeffery J Mattson
A former graphic designer, game designer and animator, Jeffery Mattson now works in the film industry in Vancouver BC.
Despite being deathly allergic to cats Jeff came into possession of one cute kitten named Pester. Jeff decided he was going to train Pester for film, but after years of training and several auditions ultimately gave up, but not before turning Pester into a highly trained nuisance capable of breaking into people’s homes and causing general mayhem on command.
Pester’s antics inspired him to write these stories.

When Pester was a kitten I used to play with her a game. I’d say “Where’s Jeffery’s nose?” and she would enthusiastically bat me on the nose; her favourite game by far. But as she grew older she put less and less effort in. It went from a hardy two pawed pounce, to a one paw tap, to a gentle nudge with her nose. Now when I ask her “Where’s Jeffery’s nose” she gives me a glare and rolls her eyes. “I can’t believe you’ve lost your nose again,” she says. This, as it turns out, is the reason she doesn’t trust me enough to leave me alone.
Pester the Cat
I grew tired of opening doors for Pester. Luckily we had lever style door knobs in our building which made teaching her how to open them herself easy. She became so good at this, that at times, when bored, she would escape the apartment and wander the building opening other people’s suites, where she would lounge under people’s sofas or on their beds, or in their guinea pig’s cages. It was always a difficult conversation with neighbours.
